Bug from Atlantis

Not quite Atlantis, but a sunken island of the coast of Australia. Meet the ancient flightless tree lobster. Cool article.

Space Shuttles On Sale… Only $42M!

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

It’s definitely not too late to do some last minute holiday shopping. NASA is opening up their Factory Outlet and having a retired space shuttle sale. The modest $42M estimate includes $6 million to ferry the spaceship atop a modified jumbo jet to the closest major airport. Sweet! And what a great stocking stuffer this would be?!

This was sent in from our dear friend Dr. K (Sloan Kettering). We were hanging out when a fellow pathologist suggested we make a path shirt.

The Most Important Number = X?

Few weeks ago we sat in on a talk about Thoreau given by Jeffrey Kramer at the amazing Watertown Library, followed by a packed house Friday night town like meeting in Concord with Bill McKibben at working the pulpit. Yesterday’s unusually warm weather, the rain, the rain, and a pre-tantrum wish for a white Christmas.

Lame

Most certainly did not leave us wanting more. As Bono so poetically crooned, ‘Did I disappoint you? Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?…’ Ando’s pink sparkle, supercharging power is as menacing as a My Little Pony plush toy. Sad, sad. Give me Thursday night superhero Smallville chin action. Ever notice the cleft chins wallpapered all over Metropolis? Well, except for Chloe and Lex. Time for Lexie to return.

Great weekend at the SOWA Holiday market. Again, many thanks to our loyal army for seeking us out. Time goes by too quickly. We met so many wonderful people with hypercredentials. It was like a Microsoft recruiting table – MIT, Harvard, Penn, Columbia, Carnegie Mellon – all the usual suspects. PhDs, teachers, professors, gamers, geeks, nerds alike. Awesome. Awesome. Thank you for your continued support. Our good friend Jeannette said, ‘You guys control the niche.’ Nice. We’re the Death Star with the heart of the Rebel Alliance. Sadlly, we sold out of a lot of things. We apologize for any holiday inconvenience. We’ll be restocking certain designs, retiring others, and releasing new ones in the future. We’ll keep the Polygon posted. Cheers, g. Oh! More pictures to come.

Monday Night ManGrooming…

Eyebrow me. Monday night = the splendor that is Monsieur Sylar (we like it more when he’s bad). We have mixed Heroes reviews this season. If it weren’t for Chuck, we might have checked out. It’s that eyebrow voodoo. We’ll be recovering with the finale tonight. Tick tock… Oh, btw. Love this pic. Seriously upcycled brows. Compute.

That’s What S(he) Said…

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Best overheard

1. ‘It’s like giving birth… if you can open it.’

2. ‘It’s so hard, and it’s so good.’

3. ‘It’s so hard to get a grip.’

4. ‘My hands aren’t big enough to get a grip.’

5. ‘I can’t pull it hard enough.’

6. ‘It might be better than s – -…’ Tomoko (pictured above). First tandem solve.

So many great play dates today. Nothing better than watching people play, well, maybe snacking on something delicious. More pictures of puzzlers to come.
